What We Do
High-level overview of Orbital Reclamation’s inspection-first, compliance-forward approach.
End-of-Life Management Overview
We focus on responsible end-of-life management for retired geostationary satellites. Our work begins with inspection and characterization and proceeds only with authorization and applicable regulatory approvals.
Phase-Based Approach
Our work is structured as a staged, decision-gated process. We prioritize clarity and safety first, and we proceed only when there is owner authorization and the appropriate regulatory alignment.
1. Inspect and Characterize (Non-Contact)
We start by characterizing the satellite’s status and risk profile from a non-contact, inspection-first posture. The goal is to reduce uncertainty before any further steps are considered.
- Establish a high-level understanding of condition, stability, and potential hazards.
- Document constraints and compliance requirements provided by the asset owner and stakeholders.
- Deliver an inspection summary and a decision gate for whether stabilization is appropriate.
2. Stabilize (Conservative, Risk-Reducing)
When warranted and authorized, we pursue conservative stabilization actions designed to reduce risk and preserve options for end-of-life management.
- Define a safety baseline and clear stop conditions aligned to owner authorization and approvals.
- Prefer reversible, conservative approaches to minimize unintended consequences.
- Validate outcomes through monitoring and documentation before proceeding.
3. Managed End-of-Life Pathways (Authorized Disposition)
With authorization and approvals in place, we support lawful end-of-life pathways that prioritize safety, sustainability, and compliance.
- Plan and document compliant pathways for retirement, monitoring, or other lawful outcomes.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to align documentation, reporting, and oversight expectations.
- Maintain traceability and auditability appropriate for safety and regulatory scrutiny.
Authorization and Regulatory Alignment
We operate only through voluntary agreements with asset owners and required regulatory approvals. We do not conduct unauthorized interference or publish operational parameters on the public website.
