Our Operating Commitments

1) Authorization and Lawful Operations

We conduct operations only:

  • With voluntary authorization from the relevant satellite owner/operator (or authorized representative), and
  • Under applicable regulatory approvals and licensing requirements.

We do not engage in unauthorized interference with operational spacecraft or ground infrastructure.

2) Inspection-First Approach

We begin with standoff inspection and characterization before any physical interaction. This typically includes:

  • Remote imaging and mapping
  • Motion and attitude characterization
  • Condition assessment based on observable evidence

No contact occurs until we have sufficient data to plan a conservative interaction.

3) Reversible Actions and Contained Risk

Our mission design emphasizes reversibility. We prioritize actions that can be paused or stopped without leaving an asset in a worse state.

We commit to a no-worse-than-current-state principle:

  • If operations are halted at any stage, we aim to leave the asset equal to or safer than we found it.

We incorporate pre-defined decision gates (“go/no-go” criteria) and abort paths to reduce the probability of undesired outcomes.

4) Debris Risk Reduction and Orbital Sustainability

We design operations to reduce long-term risk in orbit, including:

  • Avoiding activities that would create debris
  • Maintaining conservative interaction forces and controlled dynamics
  • Supporting responsible end-of-life management, including compliant disposal or risk-reducing stabilization where appropriate

Our goal is to contribute to a sustainable orbital environment where space infrastructure can be managed responsibly over decades.

5) Non-Interference with Active Services

Orbital Reclamation does not interfere with operational communications services, spectrum use, or active station-keeping. We do not use the public website to disclose operational parameters that could increase risks to space assets.

Where applicable, we coordinate activities to avoid operational conflicts and to support safe coexistence in shared orbital regimes.

6) Safety Engineering and Operational Discipline

Our internal safety posture includes:

  • Conservative systems engineering practices
  • Redundancy and fault management where appropriate
  • Formal risk assessment and operational readiness reviews
  • Controlled command and telemetry procedures
  • Post-operation documentation and incident reporting processes

We treat orbital operations as critical infrastructure work: controlled, deliberate, and professionally governed.

7) Cybersecurity and Information Security

We maintain safeguards intended to protect our systems and data. We do not publish operational details that could increase the risk of misuse or unauthorized activity. If you believe you have identified a security issue, please contact us at security@orbitalreclamation.space.

8) Compliance with Applicable Trade, Export, and Sanctions Requirements

We operate with awareness of applicable trade controls, export regulations, and sanctions requirements. We do not support unauthorized transfer of controlled technical information and we structure partnerships in a manner consistent with legal requirements.

What We Do (and What We Don’t)

We Do

  • Work through voluntary agreements with asset owners
  • Support lawful pathways for end-of-life management
  • Conduct conservative inspection and stabilization operations
  • Emphasize debris-risk reduction and operational discipline

We Don’t

  • Claim rights to unowned or ambiguous assets
  • Conduct unauthorized “salvage” or interference activities
  • Publish operational playbooks, proximity-operation parameters, or sensitive procedures
  • Market capabilities that cannot be substantiated

Our Commitment to Responsible Stewardship

Orbit is a shared domain and critical infrastructure layer. Orbital Reclamation’s purpose is to support responsible stewardship through disciplined operations, compliance-first governance, and risk reduction—while enabling selective reuse only where safe and lawful.
